Secondly, a bit about my background
I was drawn to storytelling early and began reading and writing in English in my teens. There began a several decades long love affair with the English language that thankfully refuses to let up.
After having spent nearly six years living in London I moved back to my native Sweden in 2020.
In my early twenties I realized I could combine my love of writing with my love of film and began to study screenwriting. While living in London I had the good fortune to work as a professional reader for several established production companies such as Mammoth Screen, 42 Management and Production, and Ecosse Films.
I spent over five years delivering high-standard coverage, predominantly on novels though I also read plenty of pilot scripts, series bibles, treatments, plays and even a few comics. My job as a reader was to break down each narrative component in order to evaluate the novel’s fitness for production.
This afforded me the opportunity to hone my understanding of what effective storytelling looks like (since I evaluated each narrative component separately before looking closely at how they each fit into a whole) as well as learn the value of concise and in-depth feedback.
And thirdly, a bit about the things I care deeply about
Fair and accurate representation
I will never take on work that supports or seeks to promote racist, fascist or prejudiced views.
Let’s make the world better.
Queer voices
As part of the queer community I love supporting and elevating all queer writers. This is 100% a safe space.
Not elevating misogyny
I will not be able to edit or coach a novel where any toxic behavior is considered romantic or meant to be depicted as desirable. There is nothing hot about abuse. Clear tension, frustration with the other, arguing/bickering/banter, misunderstandings—all human. Abuse is on a whole other level and I’m of the firm opinion that it shouldn’t be explored without Carl Jung firmly riding in the side-wagon.
Meaning, if there is an element of self-reflection, and the toxicity is a starting point from which a character grows into self-understanding and self-betterment, then bring it on.
World politics
I care very deeply about the state of the world. I also think that storytelling is a form of healing. It offers the chance for self-expression for the writer and self-reflection for the reader. Good juju all around.
Music and movement
I love to dance it out and music can elevate my mood in an instant.
Currently in my headphones: Ride or Die by Jeff Satur.
